Hi,
\nMy question concerns my 21 yr old daughter. She is a beautiful girl, however, she has quite an extreme overbite or a receding chin, making it look like she has an overbite. Her top front teeth are healthy, but they\u00a0slant “back”, making it look even more pronounced. She is extremely self concsious of this, and has stopped smiling as much.<\/p>\n
Other than surgery to bring her jaw forward, is there anything dental-wise that can be done to help this situation??<\/p>\n

\nI wish I could give you a more specific answer about what to do about your daughter’s overbite, or apparent overbite, but that kind of case is much too complex for me to tell from a distance, without a full exam, x-rays, etc.<\/p>\n
If the top teeth already slant backward, it makes it less likely that simple braces<\/a> or porcelain veneers<\/a> or porcelain crowns<\/a> would work. Just from what you told me, I would guess that jaw surgery would be the only good solution for her. But you’re going to have to rely on your local dentist. If you want a second opinion from someone, the only North Dakota cosmetic dentist<\/a>\u00a0that I recommend is Dr. Everett Herringer, and he’s in Bismarck.<\/p>\n Dr. Hall<\/p>\n\n
