Dr. Hall,
\nI have to say that I am satistied with the alignment and look of my teeth but ever since I had my braces<\/a> removed I have had stained teeth<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I am a 37-year-old male and would love to get my teeth white. I have tried the Brite Smile and was very unhappy with the results.<\/p>\n

\nIf you have discolorations from decalcification after braces, then you will have white and\/or brown spots<\/a>, and they will be in a pattern that corresponds to the bands or brackets you had on your teeth.<\/p>\n

For the benefit of others who are reading this post, we have an article about white spots around braces<\/a>–about what causes them and how to prevent them. But you’re at a point now where you need them fixed.<\/p>\n

Tooth whitening<\/a> won’t work for these spots–in fact it will make them worse. The best way to fix them, in my opinion, if they are not too extensive, is with direct tooth bonding<\/a> . But you need an expert cosmetic dentist<\/a> for this. The dentist has to be an artist, because you work the materials at chairside. They also need to inventory the highly specialized materials that are used for beautiful direct bonding of front teeth.<\/p>\n

An expert cosmetic dentist would\u00a0probably suggest tooth\u00a0bleaching<\/a> first, to get an overall white color, and then bond over the spots to match the bleached color.<\/p>\n
