A lot of cosmetic dentists do a fair number of removable dentures. You people who have suffered the loss of all your natural teeth have a special need of someone who is extra sensitive to how you look and has the cosmetic training to know how to design a smile that will be attractive and will fit your facial characteristics.
If cosmetic considerations are of prime concern to you, consider having a cosmetic dentist make your denture. Here are some of the benefits:
- Cosmetic dentists often offer artistic designing with the aid of a video-imaging computer that simulates how you will look with your new teeth. There are many facets of smile design that are never taught in dental school that an expert cosmetic dentist will be aware of. Please consult our smile design page for additional information about how a cosmetic dentist might design an attractive smile appropriate for your facial characteristics and personality.
- Try-ins that will allow you to wear the dentures in trial form for you to see how they will make you look. You can even bring other people with you to that appointment to give you the opportunity to get their feedback. The denture can then be modified to incorporate your feedback.
- A philosophy that understands aesthetics and your desire to look good.
We have a separate page for information on tooth extraction.
Here is a testimonial from a woman in Tennessee who asked us to find a cosmetic dentist to make her denture:
Dear Dr. Hall,
“I just wanted to say thank you for finding me a dentist. I wrote you some time back about my upper denture. My temporary dentures looked fine, but after about a year and my gums shrinking my new denture looked bad as far as the looks of my face and mouth. My mouth was very narrow and my top lip was sunken in. The new denture was made to fit my gums with no concern of the looks of my mouth and face. I was very disappointed. You searched for a dentist for me in Knoxville, Tennessee and recommended Dr. Guion. Since then, I have my new dentures that Dr. Guion made for me and they are beautiful. My face is fuller and my smile is wider. Dr. Guion was very nice and patient with me. He knew exactly what to do to achieve the look I used to have. He and his staff were very kind. I am continuing to work with Dr. Guion on my lower teeth with a couple of crowns and whitening. Thanks so much for your help.”

In addition to making an attractive denture, dental offices that are on the leading edge of technology may also offer some added benefits. One of these is the use of soft liners. This is a newer technology. We are finding excellent results with the use of some of the newer resilient liners, especially in lower dentures. This liner is much more comfortable and holds the denture a little more securely. It has the disadvantage that it holds up for only a couple of years and then will very likely need to be replaced, but most cosmetic dentures need relining from time to time for optimum fit, anyway. There may be an extra cost for this.
And of course, if you want the very best in care, for not only a natural appearance but teeth that feel natural to you, investigate getting dental implants to help retain your denture.
