A newly crowned implant is now very loose. I am waiting for an appointment, but in the meantime, can I pull the implant out myself?
– Joann from Chicago
I will be honest and tell you that before I retired I didn’t have a lot of experience with dental implants and no experience with failed dental implants. But I would advise you not to pull it out. If there is a chance that the implant could be saved, you would be making it more difficult to do that if you pull it out, because the surgery site would immediately begin to fill in with tissue.
I can help some, too, by telling you that if you had a separate surgeon who placed the implant, different from the dentist who put the dental crown on it, you need to see the surgeon for this, as this is a surgical issue, trying to save the implant.
