Dr. Hall,
I am 38 and scheduled to have my lower left impacted wisdom tooth extracted along with 3 other infected teeth. I am very afraid of what will occur afterwards, i.e. pain and how fast or slow it will heal…. Will I have ear pain forever afterwards? Honestly how bad is the pain afterwards? Will I be able to withstand the pain?? I am a chicken! Thank you for your response…Teri from Michigan
Teri,
I won’t say it’s going to be a picnic after having your impacted wisdom tooth removed. With a regular tooth extraction, you don’t really swell any. But with an impacted tooth, you’re going to swell up and it’s going to be hard to eat, and you’ll feel very tired and should stay home for a couple of days. As far as pain, your dentist or oral surgeon should prescribe you pain medications that will take away the pain. So pain shouldn’t be a big issue.
